About the Foundation
The Chris Behounek Memorial Fund was founded in 2018 after losing Chris Behounek to suicide at 28 years old. They are a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing suicide and reducing the stigma around mental health issues.
The nonprofit has raised $207k running their annual golf tournament. The proceeds of the golf tournament have been distributed to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Brady’s Voice, and in support of children who lost their parents to suicide.
The 6th Annual Chris Behounek Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Cobblestone Creek Country Club on Monday June 24th 2024. 50% of the proceeds from this year’s event will go towards establishing Hope Squad’s in local schools. Hope Squad is a peer-to peer suicide prevention program. Hope Squad members are nominated by their classmates as trustworthy peers and trained by advisors. The program reduces the risk of youth suicide through education, training, and peer intervention.
